Frequently Asked Questions

After I register, how long will it be before I hear from a coach?
You should hear from a coach approximately two weeks after registration ends.

If I am placed on a waiting list, how long will it be before I hear if my son/daughter is placed on a team?
Players on a waiting list will be placed on a team only if room is available. If a spot becomes open, we will call you immediately. If you do not hear from us, then no space is available, and unfortunately, your child will have to wait until the next  soccer season. Please remember, you will only be called if your child can be placed on a team. Please do not call asking the status of the waiting list.

What are the age divisions for recreation soccer?
The age divisions are as follows:

Who are the coaches for the recreation teams?
The Fayetteville Soccer Club relies heavily on parent volunteers to coach their recreation teams. These parents have different levels of experience with soccer and are willing to help a team have a great time. Additionally, the Fayetteville Soccer Club does recruit volunteers from area schools and clubs if parents are not available. Please remember, if we can not find a volunteer to coach a team, then that team may not be able to play for that season. Please do not let this happen. The Fayetteville Soccer Club is always looking for volunteers to coach. If you do coach, then one family member will be allowed to play for free. When registering your child, please indicate that you are coaching you son or daughters team.  Then register and pay online as usual.  We will refund your registration fee after the first games take place.

Where can we practice?
Teams can practice at the local recreation centers or schools near where they live. It is recommended that the coach call your local recreation center or school to make sure that there will be space available on the day you would like to practice.

Why can we not practice at the Jordan Soccer Complex?
The Fayetteville Soccer Club’s Travel teams pay to rent the fields at the Jordan Soccer complex for their practices and games.  As a result, there  simply is no field availability for the recreation teams to practice.

What equipment does my child need in order to play soccer?
Each child must wear shin guards. Soccer shoes with rubber cleats are recommended. No metal cleats will be allowed on the soccer fields. For SAFETY reason, absolutely no jewelry should be worn when playing soccer.

Is there a tournament at the end of regular season play?
Yes. The regular soccer season consists of 7 weeks of play and one day of tournament play. The set-up for tournament play varies depending on the number of teams in each age division. Ages U6 through U8 usually play one game on tournament day. U9 through U18 will play a round robin tournament.

Who are the referees for the recreation games?
Referees for the Fayetteville Soccer Club recreational teams are volunteers from our local schools and colleges. These volunteers generally have played soccer for sometime and are familiar with the FIFA laws for the game of soccer.
